Review: Kim Ling Restaurant, Anna nagar.

Rocky and Mayur have ventured out to explore food from all parts of India and curate videos on Askme.com  I’m contributing my part by relishing my favorite dishes at Kim Ling Restaurant, Anna nagar, Chennai and sharing my reviews with you all!

Me and my friends recently planned to meet on a weekend for dinner. He lives in Anna nagar and we thought meeting there would be convenient for all of us as I lived in Ambattur and my other friend lived in Guindy. So, I called up my friend and asked him “Which is the best place to have dinner in Anna nagar?” He asked me “What kind of food you prefer?” I immediately said “Chinese.” He immediately said “Then, we’ll go to Kim Ling.”

From the outside one couldn’t easily find the restaurant as it is located at the basement of an optics showroom. First, when I entered the restaurant, I couldn’t see anything as the place was dimly lit. Then, slowly my eyes got adjusted to the environment and everything was fine.

The place was calm and looked isolated from the rest of the chaotic outdoor. I liked it. Then, me and my friends started flipping the pages in the menu and my friend ordered chicken wonton soup (Chef’s special) for the three of us. We also ordered a plate of chicken momos, which the waiter said will have 12 pieces.

We kept talking for a while, and the chicken wonton soup arrived in three bowls. The soup was awesome. It had cooked chicken strips, and a fried wonton. The taste of the wonton soaked in soup was heavenly.

Then we started with the momos. The waiter brought the momos in a bamboo vessel and served the pieces to us. One good thing about the restaurant is that when you order a dish and plan to share it among your friends, the waiters will come to the rescue. They will serve the dish equally to you and your friends. So no fights! 🙂

The momos were delicious and went well with the sweet, and hot sauce.

By the time we finished eating the momos, we were still hungry. We wanted to order something else, and doesn’t want it to go waste. So, we called the waiter and asked him “what would be a good main course? We prefer noodles.” He suggested “Man chow noodles.”

We ordered a bowl of “Mixed man chow noodles”. The noodle had strips of chicken and prawns in it. It wasn’t too spicy, and the taste was really good. It’s been a long time since I had a good bowl of noodles and the mixed man chow noodles made justice to my taste buds.

Finally, my friend told me that “fried ice cream is the best here!” and we thought “why not!” So we ordered a plate of fried ice cream. It was crispy on the outside and when I put it on my mouth, I felt the smooth vanilla ice cream oozing out from the crispy fried dough that enclosed the ice cream filling. The dish was hot on the outside and cold on the inside.

Finally when we paid the bill for Rs. 940, we were completely satisfied with the food. It was great in terms of quality and quantity.

I would definitely visit Kim Ling in future, and always the fried ice cream will be my favorite dish.
