Black Panther Review: Marvel’s coolest superhero is here

Black Panther is one of the coolest superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In spite of being around for over five decades, the character did not make its screen presence until recently. When Black Panther made its debut, my first thought was “If Captain America could do so much using a shield made of Vibranium, how much could Black Panther do with a suit made of vibranium!”

But, the recent movie of Black Panther showed that there is more to the character than just a suit that is made of Vibranium.

In a superhero universe that is ruled by White people, the release of Black Panther has opened up a new era.

Everything in the movie: the characters, the story line, the traditions and rituals followed by the tribes, and the rich backstory creates an impact and adds more value to the movie. The story team has has put so much thought in making all the details right as they knew more of Black Panther is yet to come.

Chadwick Boseman has done an amazing job playing Black Panther. He plays the King of Wakanda who is calm and composed and handles every situation with grace.

Another notable thing about the movie is Michael B. Jordan. He plays the role of “Killmonger”, the villain in the movie and he totally killed it. One of the strongest villains Marvel universe has seen. The challenge sequence between Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan will make you bite your nails.

The visual effects are just mind blowing. As the movie focuses on building a strong storyline for the upcoming sequels, it is not intense on action sequences like Avengers. But, the action sequences that come within the movie definitely showcases the powers of Black Panther and what he is capable of. The chase sequence in South Korea is a good example.

Another thing that put me in awe is the director’s vision of Wakanda. Convincing the audience that a country had developed technology to hide itself in plain sight takes a lot of effort.

The movie ends with notes leading to Avengers: Infinity war, especially the post credit scene 😉 Can’t wait to see Black Panther in Avengers: Infinity War.

In spite of all the positives, I found the movie to be a little short (134 minutes). It could’ve been a little longer.

Verdict: If you think Tony Stark a.k.a Iron man has the coolest tech in Marvel Universe, wait until you see Black Panther.
